The nose mask

• Is it intact and clean – properly disinfected?
• Has it been placed correctly onto the inhaler-flask
• The valve flaps must be on level with the vents in the flask so that both flaps and vents can be lifted by exerting gentle interior pressure

Inhaler-flask

• Is it intact and without cracks?
• Is it free from dirt and other foreign objects?
• Have the two parts been pushed together correctly?

Valve flap

• Is it in place and in working order?

Aerosol-retainer

• Is it intact and clean?
• Is it in place?
• Can the valve flaps be easily moved by exerting a light pressure from the outside?

Medicine-aerosol

• Is it the correct medicine for this particular horse?
• Is the medicine still within the date of expiry?
• Does the aerosol canister still contain medicine?
